It’s no secret that I love all things curated in the kitchen – if you can name it, I’ve most likely tried it! Which is why I want to share the best kitchen items I’ve personally tried and curated (and a some wishlist items), just in case you’re looking for a gift idea – especially for someone looking to upgrade their kitchen items with quality items that are built to last. My philosophy is that high-quality, efficient, and beautiful kitchen tools are worth the investment. Especially if you enjoy cooking – but even if you’re new to curated your own kitchen, having the right tools can honestly make that whole experience much more enjoyable. I don’t do any affiliate links (except for the Caraway Pans, found here if you use the link – you’ll get an automatic discount in cart) so this is all just to share with you – I don’t make a commission on anything else! Here’s my list of the best of kitchen items:
1) Shun Knives
Once you’ve tried the quality that is a Shun knife, you’ll literally wonder why all other kitchen knives exist. And I will argue that point until someone gives me a better brand to try (ha!) Available in a variety of sizes, you can purchase these in a set or individually based on size. My first Shun knife was this 7inch Santoku – which is incredibly versatile if you only had to choose one to start with. Cuts through all foods – vegetables, breads SO, so seamlessly. I’ve tried the ones from Material Kitchen and the ones from Our Place and while I have nothing against them, they do not remotely compare to the quality that is a Shun knife. Plus, they offer a lifetime sharpening – which is important to keep these knives in their best shape.
2) Caraway Pan Set
There are few things in my opinion that live up to the Instagram hype, and these Caraway Pans are perfect for someone who wants a stylish ceramic, non-stick set that matches. I have the cream color and leave them out on the stove to display. These are free from PTFEs like Teflon and made ethically. I’ve used the sauté pan daily now for almost two years and it’s still in great condition.
I also love their brand new matching bakeware set, found here that I’ve put on my own Christmas wishlist.
3) Material Wooden Angled Cutting Board
Okay, so admittedly the big reason I wanted the Material Wooden Cutting board was because it came in black to match the kitchen aesthetics (it matters to me) – but when it arrived, I was impressed by the quality of the wood and the way the cutting board is angled so that you remove scraps easily. Perfect for displaying charcuterie boards too!
4) Staub Olivewood Utensils
You may know Staub for the ceramic cookware (which are beautiful and on my wishlist), but their olive wood utensil set – OMG. Well made, with long olive wood handles and a silicon upper so that it doesn’t scratch your pans. Looks amazing displayed in our utensil holder in the kitchen. I originally was just scoping out things for this skimming ladle, but after I tried it I immediately ordered the full set. One of my best decisions! If you don’t want the whole set, I recommend the multi-use spoon that you can use for a variety of needs.
5) Neat Method Canisters
One thing you can do to immediately make your pantry look organized is to decant your flours, sugars, and spices into individual containers. I love that these Neat Method Canisters come in the colors matte black and gold and a variety of sizes – matches well with most kitchen aesthetics.
6) Silpat Silicone Baking Sheets
For easy cleanup anytime you turn on the oven and use a baking sheet – a must have for any kitchen. I love that everything comes out non-stick and we reduce more waste compared to using just parchment paper.
7) Camille Wine Glasses
I LOVE THESE WINE GLASSES. If you’re a Scandal fan, you’ll recognize that these are a very Olivia Pope-esque wine glass. They hold the perfect amount of wine and available it a full set for red wine, white wine, and champagne. I have these displayed on our bar cart and they are beautiful to look at and use. Anytime someone comes over, they always ask about these glasses.
8) CB2 Swirl Marble Dinnerware
I bought the full set of this marble swirl dinnerware from CB2 as soon as I saw it – also one of my best decisions! It’s beautiful to display, washes well (dishwasher safe), and matches so perfectly with the kitchen. I love that this mug can double as a pencil or toothbrush holder. I’m obsessed with the marble detailing!
9) Vitamix Blender
Chances are, you’re familiar with Vitamix – they are the top of the line blenders and worth every penny. Easily blends smoothies, soups, and sauces to the perfect consistency. I’ve used other blenders in the past before the Vitamix and they’ve always given out on me after a year or so. I’ve had my Vitamix for a many years now and it’s still good as new. One of the best little things is that it comes with a mini tamper – which helps move all of the ingredients in the blender to get that perfect, Vitamix consistency. Definitely worthy of a spot in your kitchen garage.
10) Miele Lotus Countertop Coffee Machine
Saving one of the best for last because this one is on my personal wishlist! Admittedly I’m over the functionality of my Nespresso Vertuo Next – while I do enjoy using it, I miss using fresh ground coffee beans and having the option to choose my own coffee beans. You can’t go wrong with a Miele anything so I can’t wait share this with you when I get my hands on one. If you’re a Chicago local, ABT offers free delivery on all of their appliances and they seriously have the BEST customer service. I can’t recommend them enough after purchasing a few appliances from them this year!
11) BONUS: KitchenAid Stand Mixer
Also on my own wishlist is this white KitchenAid Stand Mixer with the Black Ceramic Bowl – just so beautiful! Honestly shocked that I haven’t bought one for myself yet because a KitchenAid Mixer is a very classic kitchen appliance that stands the test of time. I love the black and white color palate here.
